My favorite ten movies of year 2006

1. Rang De Basanti

It’s not only my favorite movie of 2006. But also favorite Hindi movie so far.
The best part of the movie is story and screenplay. The way it moves back and
forth of time, the way the characters transformed from careless students to emotional patriots are really touching. There are some arguments over the way they sort out the things in the end, by killing a politician, hijacking a radio station (may not be as easy as it has shown in the movie) and communicating the rest of India over radio station. Weather those are right or wrong, ethical or unethical. But I think if I were in that situation I ended
of doing something like, i would not have ashamed of killing a politician.

2.Zinda

It’s sad that this movie was a flop at box office, nevertheless its one of my favorite. It has got a touching story. Jhon and Sanju did really good job. And by far I felt its Sanjay Gupta's best movie.

3.Omkara

Vishal bharadwaj made a great job in transforming the Shakespeare’s Othello into Omakara. So did all the actors in it, especially Saif Ali Khan.

4.Dor

I never liked Nagesh kooknoor's movie. Even all of his movies are based on some great stories, but i found he messed of with the direction. More often you feel something is wrong somewhere. Dor is no different. The story is great, so as the performance of Shreyas Talpade and Ayesha Takia. But there are a lot of flaws in Nagesh kooknoor’s direction. Still then it’s one of my 2006's favorite movie.

5.Khosla ka Ghosla

Good to see a movie which is rich on content, and humorous. Don’t need to make an effort to keep your brain in your home to see a comedy. For me Boman Irani is as good star as SRK.

6.Corporate

It’s always a great comfort to see a Madhur Bhandarkar's movie. But it’s always have sad ending except Satta (Never seen Aan). He shows you real India with a humor. Can't wait to see Signal.

7. Lage Raho Munnabhai

Once again we have Munna and Circuit. But I am little disappointed. Its not as rich, as convincing as MBBS. But still it’s a great movie. Waiting for the next Munna And circuit's adventure.

8. Kabul Express

A documentary. What the so-called trade analyst/Movie reviewer are calling it. But still it’s a great movie. I personally don’t like movies, which carries Pakistan bashing just to gain some popularity in India. But this movie has shown some real things about Pakistan and USA's involvement in destruction of Afghanistan.

9. Dhoom:2

Great Star cast, exotic location and a great producer D2 is a real popcorn entertainer. All the credit goes to Aditya Chopra, more than to the director of that movie. Looking forward to D3.

10. Taxi no 9211

A movie that initially irritates with an irritating character (Read nana), makes it sure when you go out of theater you will find some tear in your eyes and smile in your face. The transformation of two people from their irritating, meaningless life into believer in truth, friendship and loyalty is heart touching.

He who humbles himself ...

Have you ever had a dream?
or is life just a trip?
a trip without chances
a chance to grow up quick

Open your eyes, open your mind
proud like a god don't pretend to be blind
trapped in yourself, break out instead
beat the machine that works in your head.

"He who humbles himself shall be exalted and vice-versa"

An incident on a British Airways flight !!!

This Scene took place on a British Airways flight between Johannesburg and London. A white woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a black man. Obviously disturbed by this, she called the air Hostess.

"Madam, what is the matter," the hostess asked.

"You obviously do not see it then?" she responded.

"You placed me next to a black man. I do not agree to sit next to someone from such a repugnant group. Give me an alternative seat."

"Be calm please," the hostess replied. "Almost all the places on this flight are taken. I will go to see if another place is available."

The Hostess went away and then came back a few minutes later. "Madam, just as I thought, there are no other available seats in the economy class. I spoke to the captain and he informed me that there is also NO seat in the business class. All the same, we still have one place in the first class."

Before the woman could say anything, the hostess continued: "It is not usual for our company to permit someone from the economy class to sit in the first class. However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would be scandalous to make someone sit next to someone so disgusting."

She turned to the black guy, and said, "Therefore, Sir, if you would like to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in first class."

At that moment, the other passengers who were shocked by what they had just witnessed stood up and applauded.

WHY EMPLOYEES LEAVE ORGANISATIONS?

Every company normally faces one common problem of high employee turnout ratio. People are leaving the company for better pay, better profile or simply for just one reason' pak gaya '. This article might just throw some light on the matter......

Early this year, Arun, an old friend who is a senior software designer, got an offer from a prestigious international firm to work in its India operations developing specialized software. He was thrilled by the offer.

He had heard a lot about the CEO of this company, charismatic man often quoted in the business press for his visionary attitude.

The salary was great. The company had all the right systems in place employee-friendly human resources (HR) policies, a spanking new office, and the very best technology, even a canteen that served superb food. Twice Arun was sent abroad for training. "My learning curve is the sharpest it's ever been," he said soon after he joined. "It's a real high working with such cutting edge technology." Last week, less than eight months after he joined, Arun walked out of the job. He has no other offer in hand but he said he couldn't take it anymore. Nor, apparently, could several other people in his department who have also quit recently. The CEO is distressed
about the high employee turnover. He's distressed about the money he's spent in training them. He's distressed because he can't figure out what happened.

Why did this talented employee leave despite a top salary? Arun quit for the same reason that drives many good people away.

The answer lies in one of the largest studies undertaken by the Gallup Organization.

The study surveyed over a million employees and 80,000 managers and was published in a book called First Break All The Rules. It came up with this surprising finding:

If you're losing good people, look to their immediate supervisor.
More than any other single reason, he is the reason people stay and thrive in an
organization. And he's the reason why they quit, taking their knowledge, experience and contacts with them. Often, straight to the competition. "People leave managers not companies," write the authors Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman. "So much money has been thrown at the challenge of keeping good people - in the form of better pay, better perks and better training - when, in the end, turnover is mostly manager issue." If you have a turnover problem, look first to your ma n agers. Are they driving people away?

Beyond a point, an employee's primary need has less to do with money, and more to
do with how he's treated and how valued he feels. Much of this depends directly on the immediate manager. And yet, bad bosses seem to happen to good people everywhere..

A Fortune magazine survey some years ago found that nearly 75 per cent of employees have suffered at the hands of difficult superiors. You can leave one job to find - you guessed it, another wolf in a pin-stripe suit in the next one. Of all the workplace stressors, a bad boss is possibly the worst, directly impacting the emotional health and productivity of employees. HR experts say that of all the abuses, employees find public humiliation the most intolerable. The first time, an
employee may not leave, but a thought has been planted.. The second time, that thought gets strengthened. The third time, he starts looking for another job. When people cannot retort openly in anger, they do so by passive aggression. By digging their heels in and slowing down. By doing only what they are told to do and no more. By omitting to give the boss crucial information.

Dev says: "If you work for a jerk, you basically want to get him into trouble. You don't have your heart and soul in the job."

Different managers can stress out employees in different ways by being too controlling, too suspicious, too pushy, too critical, but they forget that workers are not fixed assets, they are free agents. When this goes on too long, an employee will quit - often over seemingly trivial issue.

It isn't the 100th blow that knocks a good man down. It's the 99 that went before.

And while it's true that people leave jobs for all kinds of reasons- for better opportunities or for circumstantial reasons, many who leave would have stayed - had it not been for one man constantly telling them, as Arun's boss did: "You are dispensable. I can find dozens like you." While it seems like there are plenty of other fish especially in today's waters, consider for a moment the cost of losing a talented employee. There's the cost of finding a replacement. The cost of training the replacement. The cost of not having someone to do the job in the meantime. The loss of clients and contacts the person had with the industry. The loss of morale in
co-workers. The loss of trade secrets this person may now share with others.
Plus, of course, the loss of the company's reputation. Every person who leaves a
corporation then becomes its ambassador, for better or for worse. We all know of large IT companies that people would love to join and large television companies few want to go near. In both cases, former employees have left to tell their tales. "Any company trying to compete must figure out a way to engage the mind of every employee," Jack Welch of GE once said.

Much of a company's value lies "between the ears of its employees".
If it's bleeding talent, it's bleeding value. Unfortunately, many senior executives
busy travelling the world, signing new deals and developing a vision for the company, have littl e idea of w hat may be going on at home. That deep within an organization that otherwise does all the right things, one man could be driving its best people away.

Beautiful Thoughts

When we share laughter,
There's twice the fun;
When we share success,
We surpass what we've done.

When we share problems,
There's half the pain;
When we share tears,
A rainbow follows rain.

When we share dreams,
They become more real;
When we share secrets,
It's our hearts we reveal.

If we share a smile,
Then our love shows;
If we share a hug,
Then our love grows.

If we share with someone
On whom we depend,
That person becomes
Family or friend.

And what draws us closer
And makes us all care,
Is not what we have,
But the things that we share.

The deepest desire of a software engineer

An ambitious software engineer finally decided to take a vacation. He booked himself on a Caribbean cruise and proceeded to have the time of his life. At least for a
while.

A hurricane came up unexpectedly. The ship went down and was lost instantly. The man found himself swept up on the shores of an island with no other people, no supplies, nothing. Only bananas and coconuts.

Used to four-star hotels, this guy had no idea what to do. So, for the next four months he ate bananas, drank coconut juice, longed for his old life, and fixed his
gaze on the sea, hoping to spot a rescue ship.

One day, as he was lying on the beach, he spotted movement out of the corner of his eye. It was a rowboat, and in it was the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen.

She rowed up to him.

In disbelief, he ! ! asked her: "Where did you come from, and how did you get here?"

"I rowed from the other side of the island," she said.

"I landed here when my cruise ship sank."

"Amazing," the software engineer said, "I didn't know anyone else had survived. How many of you are there?

You were really lucky to have a rowboat wash up with you."

"It's only me," she said, "and the rowboat didn't wash up: nothing did."

He was confused, "Then how did you get the rowboat?"

"Oh, simple," replied the woman. "I made it out of raw material that I found on the island. The oars were whittled from gum-tree branches, I wove the bottom from palm branches, and the sides and stern came from a eucalyptus tree."

"But, but, that's impossible," stuttered the man. "You had no tools or hardware - how did you manage?"

"Oh, that was no problem," the woman said. "On the south side of the island, there is a very unusual strata of exposed a! ! lluvial rock. I found that if I fired it to
a certain temperature, it melted into forgeable ductile iron. I used that to make tools, and used the tools to make the hardware. But enough of that.

Where do you live?"

Sheepishly, the man confessed that he had been sleeping on the beach the whole time.

"Well, let's row over to my place then," she said.

After a few minutes of rowing, she docked the boat at a small wharf. As the man looked onto shore, he nearly fell out of the boat. Before him was a stone walk leading to an exquisite bungalow painted in blue and white.

While the woman tied up the rowboat with an expertly woven hemp rope, the man could only stare ahead, dumbstruck.

As they walked into the house, she said casually,
"It's not much, but I call it home. Sit down, please. Would you like to have a drink?"

"No, no, thank you," he said, still dazed. "I couldn't drink another drop of coconut juice."

"It's not coconut juice," the woman replied. "I have made a still - How about a Pina Colada?"

Trying to hide his continued amazement, the software engineer accepted, and they sat down on her couch to talk.

After they had exchanged their stories, the woman announced, "I'm going to slip into something more comfortable. Would you like to have a shower and a shave? There is a razor upstairs in the cabinet in the bathroom."

No longer questioning anything, the man went into the bathroom. There in the cabinet was a razor made from a bone handle. Two shells honed to a hollow-ground edge were fastened to its tip, inside a swivel mechanism.

"This woman is absolutely amazing," he mused. "What next?"

When he returned, the woman greeted him. She beckoned for him to sit down next to her. "Tell me," she began suggestively, slithering closer to him, brushing her leg
against his, "We've both been out here for a very long t! ! ime.

You've been lonely. There's something I'm sure you really feel like doing right now, something you've been longing to do for all of these months."

She stared into his eyes. He couldn't believe what he was hearing - this was like all of his dreams coming true in one day.

"You mean...," he replied, "I can check my e-mail from here?"

Kindness Pays !

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.

He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe you?"

"You don't owe me anything," she replied "Mother has taught us never to accept payment for a kindness." He said... "Then I thank you from my heart."

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt; stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Years later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.

Dressed in his doctor's gown he we nt in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room.

She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally, she looked, and something caught; her attention on the side as She read these words.....

"Paid in full with one glass of milk." (Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly.

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You, GOD, that Your love has spread abroad through human hearts and hands."

Gift

There was once this guy who is very much in love with his girl. This romantic guy folded 1,000 pieces of paper cranes as a gift to his girl.

Although, at that time he was just a small fry in his company, his future didn't seem too bright, they were very happy together. Until one day, his girl told him she was going to Paris and will never come back. She also told him that she cannot visualize any future for the both of them, so they went their own ways there and then...

Heartbroken, the guy agreed. But when he regained his confidence, he worked hard day and night, slogging his body and mind just to make something out of himself.

Finally with all the hard work and the help of friends, this guy had set up his own company ..

You never fail until you stop trying. One rainy day, while this guy was driving, he saw an elderly couple sharing an umbrella in the rain walk ing to some destination. Even with the umbrella, they were still drenched. It didn't take him long to realize they were his girl's parents.

With a heart in getting back at them, he drove slowly beside the couple, wanting them to spot him in his luxury sedan. He wanted them to know that he wasn't the same any more; he had his own company, car, condo, etc. He made it! What he saw next confused him, the couple was walking towards a cemetery, and so he got out of his car and
followed...and he saw his girl, a photograph of her smiling sweetly as ever at him from her tombstone and he saw his paper cranes right beside her...

Her parents saw him. He asked them why this had happened. They explained, she did not leave for France at all. She was ill with cancer. She had believed that he will make it someday, but she did not want to be his obstacle... therefore she had chosen to leave him.

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you wa nt them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. She had wanted her parents to put his paper cranes beside her, because, if the day comes when fate brings him to her again...he can take some of those back with him...

Once you have loved, you will always love. For what's in your mind may escape but what's in your heart will remain forever.

The guy just wept...The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside her knowing you can't have her, see her or be with her ever again.........hope you understand.

Find time to realize that there is one person who means so much to you, for you might wake up one morning losing that person who you thought meant nothing to you.

Do you have an Email-Id

A jobless man applied for the position of "office boy" at Microsoft.

HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as a test.

"You are employed."

He said."Give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the application to fill in, as well as date when you may start."

The man replied "But I don't have a computer, neither an email."

I'm sorry", said the HR manager,"If you don't have an email, that means you do not exist. And who doesn't exist, cannot have the job."

The man left with no hope at all. He didn't know what to do, with only $10 in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10Kg tomato crate. He
then sold the tomatoes in a door to door round. In less than two hours, he succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the operation three times, and returned home
with $60. The man realized that he can survive by this way, and started
to go everyday earlier, and return late. Thus, his money doubled or tripled every day. Shortly, he bought a cart, then a truck, then he had his own fleet of
delivery vehicles.

5 years later, the man is one of the biggest food retailers in the US.He started to plan his family's future, and decided to have a life insurance. He called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan.

When the conversation was concluded, the broker asked him his email.

The man replied, "I don't have an email".

The broker answered curiously, "You don't have an email, and yet have succeded to build an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an
email?!!"

The man thought for a while and replied, " Yes, I'd be an office boy at Microsoft!"

Moral of the story:

M1 - Internet is not the solution to your life.

M2 - If you don't have internet, and work hard, you can be a millionaire.

Life

Never take life for granted
Whatever comes your way,
Just grasp it in both hands
And enjoy it every day.

Sometimes sorrow comes your way
Blocking out the light,
That's the time to pray and
To know you'll win the fight.

Life is but a journey
Through mountains, hills and vales
We cannot have the sunshine
If we have no rain and gales.

So enjoy each precious moment,
And always give your best
Remember keep faith in God
Then you'll be truly blessed.

If u ask god for something,
he replies in three ways.
He says "YES" and gives what u want,
He says "WAIT" and gives u better option,
He says "NO" and gives best for u.

CTRL-ALT-DELETE

David Bradley

He is the one who spent 1 minute and 23 seconds writing the source
code that has rescued and will cointinue to rescue PC users worldwide
for decades. This extraordinary IBM employee retired on Friday,
January 14, 2005; after a prolonged service of 29 years. His formula
forces obstinate computers to restart when they no longer follow other
commands. By 1980, Bradley was one of 12 people working on the debut.
The engineers knew they had to design a simple way to restart the
computer whenever it fails to respond to the user. Bradley wrote the
code to make it work.

Bradley says -
"I did a lot of other things than Ctrl-Alt-Delete, but I'm famous for
that one." His fame and success is achieved each time a PC user fails.
He commented on his relationship with Bill gates by saying, "I may
have invented it, but Bill gates made it famous by applying my formula
when ever any Microsoft's Windows operating system made by him
CRASHES, thus I win when ever he loses."

My First 3 Months in USA

I knew it. I knew it. It will be dull, boring for first few days in a new place. Away from all your friends. Even they all are accessed to me over phone/chat. The personal touch is missing. But this is not the first time, I am alone. I was in this position 4 years before also. Then I just got a job in PSIL, New Delhi. And i did not had any friends there.

Things are not bad now as it was then. Now I am richer. And i have access to internet. Besides there are Blockbuster DVDs. But somehow i loosing some energy. I wish, I will get some friends sooner. Here I have few co-workers. But i can not call them friends.

Friends for me are few and special. With whom my wavelength matches. I am 28 years old. In through out my life, I met several people. It does not take more than one or two meetings to see who will be my friends for a long period of time. I have enrolled myself in a dating site. Americansingles.com. But did not get any result. Let us see how things will come out in next few days.
